.Matrixx on the way…

Posted in .Matrixx, App, App Store, Games, Gravitrixx, Music, News, dot matrix, iPad on June 29th, 2011 by George K

Hey all, hope you’re well!

I’ve been working on .Matrixx (dotmatrix) for over a month now, and it’s nearly done!

Nearly!

I’m just waiting on some art for the unlockable backgrounds and player avatars!

Soon as I get them, I’ll be submitting to the app store – but the release date is likely to be July 16th (to allow for Apple review, and to avoid the inevitable ‘big boy’ sales over July 4th).

The game’s an endless collect/avoid ‘em up for the iPad – and it’s bloody addictive, even if I do say so myself!

For now, here’s the splash screen!

A thank you to Japan, and a new game to boot!

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all well!

Just wanted to let people know that I’ve been working on an iPad game recently and it’s shaping up very nicely!

I’m hoping to get a build out to a few testers over the weekend, if not before, with a submission to Apple soon after.

It’s called .Matrixx (DotMatrix) and it’s a ‘prequel’ of sorts to Gravitrixx, the Tron inspired puzzle game.

It has a similar look, but plays completely differently as it’s an ‘endless’ survival game!

A high score is the name of the game here, with Game Center support, and I’m just adding some unlocks and achievements too.

The soundtrack’s pretty special as well, as you’d come to expect from little old me! :D

More details to come soon!

In addition to all this, Air Supply is still doing reasonably well for a game that’s now over three months old! Bless it! I hug it every night to say ‘thanks’!

And I’d like to say ‘thanks’ to everyone who’s tried the game out! It really means the world to me that so many people have enjoyed the game!

Indeed Japan, in particular, seems to have taken Air Supply to their hearts! As I write, it’s still in the Japanese charts, and that is just simply awesome!

Mainly because I don’t speak any Japanese ( :( ), and therefore can’t really ‘market’ the game there.

I imagine it’s just word of mouth, so thank you, Japan! It’s very much appreciated!

More news soon! :D

Quick update

Posted in App, App Store, Apple, Games, Music, Shooter, iphone, ipod, puzzle, retro on September 12th, 2010 by George K

Hello everyone!

Apologies for the lack of updates. I’ve been very busy!

Quantum Sheep, as a company, is kinda growing.

As well as an update to Attack of the Kraken, I’m working on a number of projects at the moment, including:

Project ’1984′

Project ‘s’

Project AWE

Gravitrix

The first two I’ve been working on for many, many months now.

Project 1984 is a retro shooter, with some of the most awesome music you’ll ever hear from some very talented people! It stands a snowball’s chance in hell of being ‘successful’ thanks to its dated (did I say ‘dated’ – I meant ‘retro’!) look. It really will redefine the term ‘niche’ :P

Project ‘S’ was started about a year ago, and has been put on the back burner due to time constraints on myself and the lovely guy who’s doing all the cutesy graphics. I may, in the meantime, make a quick ‘card match’ game for the iPad as an offshoot of the main game. The graphics already submitted are just wonderful.

Project Awe is so secret I can’t even tell you what kind of game it is. In a massive departure from the norm, the game is being made by a group of people that will form a subsidiary of Quantum Sheep. This means the Sheep will effectively become a publisher!

There’s business plans, cost assessments, team meetings (in the pub!), a development schedule, a game design… It’s all very serious! :O No release date for that, but I’m hoping we’ll have something to show people towards Christmas! I hope you’ll like it!

Gravitrix is new. My colleague Jake and I thought it up two days ago, and today we have an almost fully working prototype to play with which is fun as a proof of concept. Three test levels have been made, and Jake and I will share the level building duties. It’s a ‘quick’ game, but that still probably means a few weeks till release!

I’m hoping that Project 1984, Project S and Gravitrix will all be out by the end of November. These things tend to take time though. We’ll see what happens!

In addition, we’ve commissioned a new look website that we hope you’ll like. Don’t worry, all the info here will be integrated into it. Hopefully we won’t lose any of my musings!

So. Busy busy busy! Just wanted to keep the lovely visitors to this place appraised of what’s going on!

The few remaining months of 2010 will be very exciting indeed!

Project 1984

Posted in Apple, Games, Shooter, iphone, retro, sci-fi, shmup, space, stars on May 12th, 2010 by George K

The title should give you a clue, but we think you may still be surprised…

‘Project 1984′ is the code-name of our scrolling shoot ‘em up. It’s for iPhone 3GS only so far, and is our biggest and best game yet.

The final game should have about 10 levels of sublime shooter action, and borrows liberally from the past as well as offering some new twists here and there too.

We hope you’ll like it. We can’t stop playing it here, which is hampering progress slightly.

Still, we’ve made some headway, and will hopefully be able to announce it soon along with screenshots and video (and its real name!).

We’re still also beavering away on 2 Minute Tank, which is looking lovely!

Stay tuned :D

Let me tell you a story…

We took some time out and went to a talk at Tate Britain about Narrative in Videogames. It was pretty interesting, and involved such luminaries as Charles Cecil (of Broken Sword fame), and Dave Gibbons (of Watchmen notoriety!).

One interesting point was about audio, and how that’s so important to a game, and yet seems to be left till last.

I wondered what the makers of Guitar Hero, Rez, Vib Ribbon, Surf Rider et al think of that?

It’s also relevant to what we’re doing here at QS. While the basic shape of one of upcoming games is there, and it’s a classic, it’s the music that really shapes the experience.

It’s not a music game though!

We’ll leave you with that taster for now! More soon!

A big thank you…

We’ve been beavering away on our latest game, which we love very, very dearly already!

This love comes from a  particular subject. We don’t want to reveal too much, as it’d give the game away. But this subject links us, and some very talented musicians together, as well as another iPhone developer that’s on a similar wavelength.

The game is turning out beautifully, and we should be done in a month or two. We can’t wait for you to see and hear it!

However, it wouldn’t be possible without the musicians we’ve mentioned. Their music, generosity of spirit, enthusiasm and their shared love of the mystery subject have truly made this a game we are very proud of, even at this early stage.

We hope to in turn make them proud for participating and helping out!

Thank you guys – we’ll spread the word soon!
