Splinter of the mind’s eye

Posted in Adventure, Games, News on March 21st, 2013 by quantumsheep

Hello lovelies!

Just a small update on all things sheepy!

There’s a number of projects on the go at the moment.

My friend Jake is working on (and has been for a while) a little game called ‘Red Mist’. I have no idea when it’ll get finished, but it’s interesting and fun, and might be published through me. Yay!

Then I have a few adventure games in various states of completion. They’re very hard to do πŸ™

On top of that I’ve been learning to use Unity as I wanted to do some 3D games too. It’s fun and stuff, and the results are pretty spectacular looking. I just have to learn how to use it better. Understand it better.

So I can make sheepy games with it!

Also, I’m trying to port games over to Windows 8, but don’t have a stable testing environment for it right now. Microsoft have been very helpful, but it’s just taking forever it seems.

The projects are pretty varied. You have the adventure games (plain text, choose your own adventure, Myst type etc), a first person shooter with no guns and a 3D on-rails shooters.

So you can see, I’m being pulled in several directions, and have been for a while now.

In some ways, it’s kinda nice and varied. If I hit a brick wall somewhere on one project, I can move onto another for a while pretty quickly and no time is wasted.

One day could be spent setting up movement paths and turrets in 3D, or learning how to edit C# scripts. Another might be spent just writing locations for an adventure game, or touching up some art.

But really I need to focus a bit more. And I am going to really try and do that!

Also, I just hit 600 followers on Twitter (@quantum_sheep) – thank you all, that’s really, really lovely! Sheepyhugs for all! πŸ˜€

Speak soon!

Hello everyone, hope you’re well!

I’m very excited right now! The iPhone version of Sunshine got approved today, which means tomorrow, Thursday 10th November, Sunshine will be available on the app store for iPhone and iPad!

How awesome is that? πŸ˜€

I’m going to have a busy night, sending out promo codes for review and generally telling people about the game!

BUT!

I just wanted to say a quick ‘thanks’ to my followers, especially those on Twitter and FaceBook.

It’s always lovely to connect with people that play my games, either through social media or just plain emails and forum postings.

People are extremely kind, supportive and just plain awesome. So thank you all very very much!

It makes the world of difference to me, and I really appreciate it!

SO!

Lots to do! Look out for the game tomorrow! I hope you enjoy it! πŸ˜€

Thanks!

Making bugs in the sun…

Posted in App, App Store, Apple, Games, iPad, iphone, ipod, Music, News, planets, ProjectSOL, retro, science, shmup, Shooter, space, stars, Sunshine on October 19th, 2011 by quantumsheep

Hello all, hope you’re well!

Just wanted to give a quick update on the status of “Sunshine – Here comes the Sun”.

The game has been with testers for over a week now, and I’m listening to all the feedback. Most of it has been very positive, which is lovely!

There are some bugs/niggles though which I’m trying to work through.

The feedback has been awesome though, and I’m excited to nearly be finished (again!).

Seems that when a game is 80% done, there’s always another 80% to go πŸ˜‰

Anyway, I’m working on it! Keep your eyes peeled for the Sun! πŸ˜€

In other news, I’ve finally decided what ‘ProjectCAP’ will be – as in what type of game. That’s a long way off of course, but I’m trying to source the music right now, while also keeping an eye on Air Supply: SOS.

So much to do. So little time!

Here comes the Sun! :D

Almost!

Good progress made is the good news coming out of Sheep Towers! The game is done – it works – you can play from start to finish.

I’ve implemented GameCenter leaderboards for each level, and put in the level progression. It’s all *touch wood* working!

I am having some sound issues, and there are about 100 small things that need tidying up. But it’ll be with the testers in the next day or so, just to give it the all clear.

Hopefully submitting by Thursday/Friday this week, for a release the week after.

HOPEFULLY!!!

Fingers crossed, eh?

Here’s another pic to keep you going!

Cheers,

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I’ve been working on Sunshine (!) trying to get it just the way I want it. It’s coming along ok. I’m *hoping* to have something for the testers this weekend.

But then I’ve been saying that for a few weeks now :O

Sorry!

To tide you over, here’s another work in progress screenshot.

Again, it doesn’t give much away, but I hope it intrigues/charms/scares you (delete as applicable!).

Keep looking for the sun! πŸ˜€

Sunshine – Here comes the Sun! :D (formerly ‘ProjectSOL’)

Posted in App, App Store, Games, iphone, News, ProjectSOL, science, screenshots, Shooter, Sunshine on September 9th, 2011 by quantumsheep

Hey everyone!

So, I got some art back from Damien who’s done a lovely job and managed to pretty much match what my friend Dan did art wise for ProjectSOL.

I’m now confident the game’ll get finished! And soon! Yay!

I didn’t want to announce the title – “Sunshine – Here comes the Sun” till I knew I’d be able to finish it!

No ‘proper’ screenshots yet, but here’s one of the title screen as it stands right now πŸ™‚

Cheers, and I’ll update with more details when I can!

A birthday :D

Posted in App, App Store, Apple, Games, iphone, ipod, News on September 8th, 2011 by quantumsheep

Hello everyone!

While getting together a lot of horrible accounts/tax stuff I realised that Quantum Sheep, as a fully fledged company, turned two this week.

Yay!

It’s been a very difficult two years if I’m honest, and one thing has become clear:

If I didn’t love doing this, I’d have given up a long, long time ago.

So, apologies. You’re stuck with me for now! πŸ˜€

I’ve learnt a huge amount in those two years. Most importantly, I’m *still* learning. And having a blast. So all is good!

What’s next? Well, I’m hoping to officially announce ‘ProjectSOL’ this month – and maybe have it out by the end of September / start of October.

Then it’s all hands on deck for Air Supply: SOS, hopefully out before the end of the year. It’s an iPad/Mac game, but I’m seriously thinking of making an iPhone version too. I’ll see how the game handles on a smaller screen and make a judgement call once I get back into it.

Next year will hopefully see Air Supply 2 come out (I’m hoping for a March launch – a year after the original Air Supply came out. It’ll be a pretty huge undertaking. I don’t know if I can do it, but I’ll give it a good go!

But enough about me! I’d just like to thank everyone that has helped me out over the last two years, be it someone that’s done art for me, music, code help or just advice/support. Far too many to mention, but every little helps, and it’s always hugely appreciated! Cheers!

Secondly, I’d like to thank anyone that’s tried one of my games out. I’m grateful that you gave me a chance, and I really hope you enjoyed your game! Thanks! πŸ˜€

So – looking forward to the 3rd birthday already! Wonder what will happen in a year…

Quick update

Posted in App, App Store, Apple, Games, iphone, ipod, Music, puzzle, retro, Shooter on September 12th, 2010 by quantumsheep

Hello everyone!

Apologies for the lack of updates. I’ve been very busy!

Quantum Sheep, as a company, is kinda growing.

As well as an update to Attack of the Kraken, I’m working on a number of projects at the moment, including:

Project ‘1984’

Project ‘s’

Project AWE

Gravitrix

The first two I’ve been working on for many, many months now.

Project 1984 is a retro shooter, with some of the most awesome music you’ll ever hear from some very talented people! It stands a snowball’s chance in hell of being ‘successful’ thanks to its dated (did I say ‘dated’ – I meant ‘retro’!) look. It really will redefine the term ‘niche’ πŸ˜›

Project ‘S’ was started about a year ago, and has been put on the back burner due to time constraints on myself and the lovely guy who’s doing all the cutesy graphics. I may, in the meantime, make a quick ‘card match’ game for the iPad as an offshoot of the main game. The graphics already submitted are just wonderful.

Project Awe is so secret I can’t even tell you what kind of game it is. In a massive departure from the norm, the game is being made by a group of people that will form a subsidiary of Quantum Sheep. This means the Sheep will effectively become a publisher!

There’s business plans, cost assessments, team meetings (in the pub!), a development schedule, a game design… It’s all very serious! :O No release date for that, but I’m hoping we’ll have something to show people towards Christmas! I hope you’ll like it!

Gravitrix is new. My colleague Jake and I thought it up two days ago, and today we have an almost fully working prototype to play with which is fun as a proof of concept. Three test levels have been made, and Jake and I will share the level building duties. It’s a ‘quick’ game, but that still probably means a few weeks till release!

I’m hoping that Project 1984, Project S and Gravitrix will all be out by the end of November. These things tend to take time though. We’ll see what happens!

In addition, we’ve commissioned a new look website that we hope you’ll like. Don’t worry, all the info here will be integrated into it. Hopefully we won’t lose any of my musings!

So. Busy busy busy! Just wanted to keep the lovely visitors to this place appraised of what’s going on!

The few remaining months of 2010 will be very exciting indeed!
