Life is an adventure! :D

Hello everyone! Hope you’re well!

I feel that recently, there’s been a whiff of change in the air. And not the small kind ;)

My friend Joe has had huge success with his adventure game, The Lost City. I recommend it – it’s lovely!

At the same time pretty much, the lovely folks at Double Fine got over $1m in funding in less than 24 hours using Kickstarter. To make an adventure game!

It’s truly wonderful to see the support for such lovely people!

It would seem pretty darn lucky that I chose this moment in time to make an adventure game with “ProjectSAMMY”. It’s coming along quite nicely, and I’ll hopefully have new stuff to show you too!

I hope people like it!

I can’t please everyone, but…

Posted in .Matrixx, App Store, Games, Reviews, iPad on February 7th, 2012 by George K

Hello everyone! Hope you’re well!

Things are getting very busy at the moment. Most of the back-end stuff for ProjectSammy is in place. I have systems set up to handle the inventory, objects, locations, feedback and puzzles. It’s really quite overwhelming at times!

Soon I’ll start actually putting the game together, which will probably take a little over a month with any luck (that’s ‘developer’ talk for TWO months!). I’ve been very productive of late but the task ahead is huge!

In other news, I just wanted to say that I do read every single review posted on iTunes, good or bad! I appreciate that complete strangers take time out of their day to let me (and others) know what they think of my efforts!

I got a really well written review the other day for .Matrixx on the iPad by a chap called ‘The Other McCoy’. It reads:

Fine gameplayDifficult one to rate. It’s a good example of the new indie golden age we have on IOS – but I’d say one of the simpler games of the sort. Graphics are minimal (but clean), sound is a retro homage (quite nice actually), and gameplay is *golden*. It’s pretty straightforward but it works well. I’m no authority but it seems quite original to me. Another thing I like about it is that it has an easy-going “just one more time” vibe even though it does get pretty busy. With some arcade games I have to be in the mood for the challenge but I can goof around with this one anytime. I was tempted to rate it 3 because of its minimal nature but the gameplay and vibe take it to 4.

Firstly, thank you so much for giving the game a chance! Just as importantly though, I’m very glad you seem to be enjoying it. It really does make my day to read reviews such as yours, sir, and I thank you, and everyone else that writes reviews, for your opinions!

Spreading fun throughout the world is my mission! I can’t please everyone of course! But by Jove I try!

Many thanks!

Another WIP shot of ProjectSAMMY :D

Posted in Adventure, App, Games, News, art on January 27th, 2012 by George K

Hello! Hope you’re well! :)

This is the second screenshot from ProjectSAMMY. Hope you enjoy it!

I’m having a real blast making this right now! I don’t think it’ll be done before March sometime, but I’ll release more shots when I’m comfy showing them!

The pic featured, and the one before, are based (hopefully obviously!) in a crypt. That’s all I’m going to say about it!

I’m working out story details right now! If Star Wars: The Old Republic has taught me anything this past month, it’s that story is important!

I have about $200m less in my budget for ProjectSAMMY. Let’s see what I can do ;)

Thanks for reading!

A quick update!

Posted in Adventure, art on January 17th, 2012 by George K

Hi all!

I’m reticent to post ‘work in progress’ shots of upcoming games, but I wanted to show you all I’m still here and still working on new stuff!

So, with that said, here’s a preview shot of ‘ProjectSAMMY’.

Hope you like it!

ProjectSAMMY will be an adventure game and I hope to add a bit of Quantum Sheep magic to it too!

I’ve made adventure games before, of course, but they were text adventures for the PC. Lots of fun to make too, so I’m excited to be working on this!

At the moment my time is split between this and Air Supply SOS – I’m hoping to settle on one or the other by the end of the month and get something finished by March/April.

So, yeah. I’m still here!

Yay!

DotMatrixx now available on Mac! :D

Posted in .Matrixx, App, App Store, Apple, Gravitrixx, Mac, Music, News, dot matrix, retro on December 21st, 2011 by George K

Hello everyone, hope you’re all well. Busy I suppose. Very, very busy! :D

My latest Mac game is out today! Hurrah! You can find it here!

The poor game was rejected by Apple because, rather obviously, you can’t start an app name with a ‘.’ (as in .Matrixx, as it appears on the iPad!).

Anyway, Apple were very good and approved the latest version in record time I think (it was just a few days – thank you, Apple Overlords!) and the game is now out!

Hope you enjoy the game! It features some awesome music by Amiga Agia, and it’s actually a lot of fun using a mouse to control your avatar – very precise and stuff! :D

So that’s it for 2011 I think! Thanks for all your support, and I’ll post a summary at some point I’m sure!

Cheers all!

Progress! :D

Hello everyone!

While I wait for early access to Star Wars: The Old Republic, I thought i’d do some work ;)

So what have I been up to!???

Well, with any luck, Gravitrixx for Mac will be out on the Mac Appstore tomorrow! (Friday December 15th). Fingers crossed, eh?

DotMatrixx should be available for Mac too at some point, if it passes Apple’s approval process of course! It’s been re-submitted, so now I’m just waiting to see what happens!

On a related note, A Merry Gravitrixmas is available for iPhone for free! It’s a Xmas themed version of Gravitrixx, and will only be available during the holidays! I hope you like it!

I’ve also submitted an update to Sunshine with hopefully some minor bugs squashed and an extra hat for the holidays! Yay! :D

Look for that *hopefully* next week!

Finally, work still continues on getting Air Supply and Attack of the Kraken on the Mac, as well as possibly iPad. Look for those in the new year.

I’m hoping that next year will see Quantum Sheep games on the Kindle Fire, and maybe some other android based tablets/phones. We’ll see!

And, of course, there are new games in the works. Namely Air Supply – SOS and an adventure game of some sort!

BUSY BUSY SHEEPY!

So, that’s it for now. I’ll post some more updates as stuff becomes available!

Thanks for reading!

Well, that didn’t go to plan…

Posted in Mac, News on December 9th, 2011 by George K

Hey all, hope you’re well!

Some bad news I’m afraid!

.Matrixx got rejected by Apple for the Mac. I *think* it’s because Mac stuff can’t start with a ‘.’

Weird eh?

Also, I’ve had some trouble uploading Gravitrixx for Mac.

I’m still working on getting these out. But these delays, and being away for a few days, has kinda knocked the old ‘a game a week’ idea for six.

Sorry about that! :(

Still, I’m trying to get some out before Xmas, and I also got a Kindle Fire too. So maybe there’ll be versions for that too!

Sometimes I wish it wasn’t just me doing this! :O

Anyway, apologies if you were looking forward to these on Mac, and I’ll do my best to get some stuff out before Xmas!

Thanks for your patience!

QS :)
