Attack of the Kraken announced! Sneak Peek video inside :D

Posted in App, App Store, Apple, art, Attack of the Kraken, Games, iphone, ipod, retro, sci-fi, Shooter, space, stars, video, youtube on July 11th, 2010 by quantumsheep

Hi all,

Our latest game, Attack of the Kraken (formerly known as ‘Project K‘), is almost ready! We’re hoping to submit to Apple this week, with a pencilled in release date of July 23rd!

It’s a side scrolling classic shoot ’em up, inspired by John Wyndhams awesome book, ‘The Kraken Wakes’ aswell as classic games like Attack of the Mutant Camels and Defender.

The graphics were supplied by debugdesign – we can’t recommend them enough!

We’re extremely proud of this game, and hope you’ll give it a go if it takes your fancy! We’ll be giving more details here once it’s submitted.

So, anyway, on with the show!

Let me tell you a story…

We took some time out and went to a talk at Tate Britain about Narrative in Videogames. It was pretty interesting, and involved such luminaries as Charles Cecil (of Broken Sword fame), and Dave Gibbons (of Watchmen notoriety!).

One interesting point was about audio, and how that’s so important to a game, and yet seems to be left till last.

I wondered what the makers of Guitar Hero, Rez, Vib Ribbon, Surf Rider et al think of that?

It’s also relevant to what we’re doing here at QS. While the basic shape of one of upcoming games is there, and it’s a classic, it’s the music that really shapes the experience.

It’s not a music game though!

We’ll leave you with that taster for now! More soon!
