Stick a fork in it…

Welcome to Bugzone!
The game is finally in a state where we’re happy to release it to the world. We’re just waiting on some feedback from the test group to see if there’s any horrible bugs in the game.
Which of course there are. That’s the point!
But we digest.
The game’s finished and should be with Apple by Monday. Good to get the first game away, and we’re already looking forward to the next one (or two. Or three).
Will update on how the submission process goes, and hopefully, in a couple of weeks, Bugzone will be available for download!

Stay on target… stay on target…

Things are moving along nicely at the moment. Bugzone is with the testers and we’re eagerly awaiting back their responses and suggestions.
In the meantime, work continues! Figured out a nasty bug that was stopping one type of enemy from working properly. Now need to add this enemy to the two other game modes and sort out the final game mode’s functionality. It’s very different from the others.
We still have our other games to think about, but right now we’re trying to get Bugzone out of the door as soon as we can. Hopefully will be able to submit to Apple within the week.
Hopefully…
It’s all very exciting!

Iconosphere

Wow.

We finally got a working copy of ‘Bugzone’ onto our ipod touch, first gen.
Yes, in the grand scheme of things, it’s not a big deal. And not a great icon, to be brutally honest.
BUT – it’s all relative, as a clever man once said.
To go from nothing a few months ago, to making a game, and then seeing it on our own ipod as an app is huge for us.
It’s there. It’s real. This is actually happening!
Stay tuned for more updates – the game is pretty much done, and needs testing before submitting to Apple. Hopefully, this time next week, it’ll be in Job’s grubby little paws!
If you like retro shooters, this may be the game for you!

Pushing the right buttons…

Posted in Uncategorized on September 13th, 2009 by George K

The title’s a bit misleading of course, as there aren’t any real buttons for iPhone games, just the type that you make yourself on the screen, be they traditional on/off movement and fire buttons, or the very popular virtual joystick.

But do they work?
Kind of…
We’re including two control schemes in Bugzone (formerly ‘Bugz’ – name got taken before we could launch!).
The first offers the standard left/right movement buttons on the left of the screen, and a fire button on the right.
The second is a bit more of an experiment. Left button on the left, Right button on the right, tap the screen to fire.
It’ll be interesting to see which the testers prefer, or, indeed, if any others are suggested.
But regardless, Bugzon is a hard game to play, and that’s mainly due to the controls and the lack of tactile feedback from the screen.
On a Mac, using the keyboard, it’s not too hard. You can certainly beat it. On the iphone, I can only get half way through.
And thus, we have to hone the controls a little better for iPhone play. And tweak the enemy spawns so that you have a chance to breathe now and again!
It’s going to be a loooong week…

We’ve been working hard these last few weeks at QS, trying to get some games finished! We’re almost there! Hopefully you’ll be seeing some of our secret projects on the App Store soon! Though it’s not finished *yet* (where’s the score? Why is there a mysterious blue button there?), here’s a taster ;)
